How to get married in Australia

As an authorised Australian marriage celebrant Laura Craddock will guide you through all the legal steps required to get married in Australia.
Laura can arrange to meet with you via Phone, Skype, FaceTime, Messenger or WhatsApp. There will be plenty of opportunities to get to know each other and for you to ask questions. The Ceremony Information Pack can be emailed (available after booking) and this provides a step-by-step guide to arranging the wedding
Prior to getting married, Laura will help you complete a Notice of Intended Marriage. This must be lodged with Laura no less than one month prior to your wedding (valid for 18 months).
At the wedding you are required to have two legal witnesses present who speak English and are 18-years or over). Contact Laura if you don't know anyone in Sydney who could act as a witness.
Paperwork for foreign governments
At the wedding you will receive an Australian Commonwealth Government marriage certificate. This is legal proof of your marriage. It is recommended that couples living overseas also obtain an optional Marriage Certificate issues by NSW Births, Deaths & Marriages.
Some foreign governments will also require additional authentication such as an Apostille stamp on the marriage certificate. Speak to Laura if this is required.
As a general rule, an Australian marriage will be recognised around the world.
